The NU:RO Minimalist Analog Watch

The concept behind Brooklyn-based design studio Anton & Irene’s analog wrist watch NU:RO is a fairly simple idea executed with laudable refinement: two rotating numerical dials meeting at the center, with hours and minutes highlighted by the graphical outline of an hourglass.

The NU:RO’s 40mm diameter 316L stainless steel case is housed behind sapphire crystal glass.

Designers Anton Repponen and Irene Pereyra decided to make the leap into product design to produce the analog NU:RO watch themselves eight years after proposing the design. Those interested in this minimalist expression of time have only till October 10th to fund the studio’s Kickstarter campaign.

A $300 pledge offers investors the option to choose from three different bands – black leather, white leather or stainless steel mesh (vegan) – along with the option to buy an extremely limited edition sculpture by Shantell Martin formed to complement the NU:RO wrist watch.

The NU:RO is a late bloomer, a 2010 Red Dot Award winning concept only now ticking toward a limited edition of 500 units for production. Its single purpose design offers a refreshing antithesis of the “do everything” technology of our mobile devices.
