Last night officially kicked off New York Fashion week! So I thought it appropriate to post this new project from Jungeun Lee of Studio Koya called Nuue, named after a Korean word that means cocoon.
The project involves wrapping synthetic fibers around a wooden mannequin to create a garment, which is then heated until it hardens, though the fiber still has some flexibility. The forms are sculptural and avant garde. By wrapping this material around a form, no fabric or fibers are wasted in the process. It’s an interesting approach to creating wearable materials.
