Olympics-Inspired Furniture by James Henry Austin

UK designer James Henry Austin created Project Won inspired by the London 2012 Olympic games. Made entirely from UK salvaged sports hall flooring, James has been hand-making this furniture using traditional joinery techniques in his Shropshire workshop.

The individual salvaged planks are hand sanded, leaving the original sports lines on display and then recoated with a natural wax oil.

We love this idea. We’ve seen a similar project by Søren Rose using gymnasium flooring – loving this sustainable design!
