Portraits of Wet Dogs by Sophie Gamand

If you’re anything like me, you have a special folder of bookmarks on your computer that you hit up anytime you need something to brighten your day (for me, it includes SNL’s Hamm & Buble and basically anything Jimmy Fallon does). My pick-me-up folder now includes Sophie Gamand’s Wet Dog photography series, a collection of portraits of dogs at bathtime. The expressions Gamand captures are absolutely priceless and, as Gamand notes, reflect remarkably human-like emotion.

Sophie Gamand is a French photographer who lives and works in New York City. Her work contemplates the unique relationship humans share with dogs and the reflective way in which we interact with our canine companions. She’s also involved in various projects that allow her to give back to the community and help adoptable dogs. Gamand’s Wet Dog series won the Portraiture category in the 2014 Sony World Photography Awards, and prints are available for purchase in her online shop.

You can see more of Gamand’s Wet Dog series here, and be sure to check out her other dog photo galleries on her website.

Katherine, who lives with her family in the mountains of North Carolina, curated her own dog blog for a couple of years before joining the Design Milk team. If she ever won the lottery, she’d most definitely spend it all on live music & airfare to New York City. Other interests include craft beer, banjos, books, & BBQ.
