Squint your eyes. Do these works of art look familiar? They should. Italian designer Marco Sodano is the mastermind behind these LEGO interpretations of three classic paintings. The idea for these pixelated versions is that every child with access to LEGO bricks can become a great artist just like Da Vinci.

I am sorry but I think the designer had a good look at the IXXI.nu website and copied it to lego, not very original.

Eh. This is easily done in a few minutes in photoshop. Those colors are too subtle to have found in lego. Mosaic filter with a multiply blending mode over a lego texture.

These are not good at all. I am sorry but unless you really know the paintings you will not get it at all. Squares too big possibly

Okay it might be easily done, but I really like the concept – perhaps the artist could have gone for something more in keeping with the fun side of Lego, such as the latest Lego video games – a batman poster or Marvel comic book cover would really appeal!

I really like this style of art! It’s so clever. I’ve seen a few adaptions of the Mona Lisa, but nothing I’ve seen has been as creative as this. My nephew has loads of Lego, I’m going to show him this post and see what art he can make! What’s so striking about the art is… it’s the colour balance that indicates what the art is: perfect colour matching!
