Designer Alain Gilles plays with the idea of weight in designing the “W8” (pronounced exactly like “weight”) side tables for Ligne Roset. As you take a longer look at W8, you’ll notice elements of visual weight, effective weight, graphic fragility and graphic mass all at play. The stability of the side table comes from the carved Pietra Serena stone that acts as a ballast to ground the rounded curves at the base. The four slender lacquered metal rods that sweep up to the table top helps to visually balance out the weightiness of the table.
