Porsche 911 Desk Shifts Into the Write Lane

Reactions to this Porsche 911 Writing Desk will undoubtedly unleash opinions galore in 0-60 within a few seconds. But for automotive enthusiasts with an affinity for the identifiable curvilinear back end of the iconic German sports car, this unusual American walnut writing desk created by French custom furniture studio, 3 GJB 17, topped with an original Porsche body panel is an unusual convergence of automotive and home furnishing design.

Though BMW can claim their cars represent the ultimate driving machine, behind this Porsche inspired desk, one could portend the surface as the ultimate writing machine.

3 GJB 17’s team of designers, wood/metalworkers, and coachbuilders coordinated their specific skills to equip the Porsche Writing Desk with a writing surface hidden underneath the louvered Arctic Silver painted rear panel of a Porsche 911. The only other detailing are two adjoining drawers on each side, offering just enough space for a few pens and car keys.

The desk is currently listed at RM Sotheby’s for $20,000 – $30,000 without reserve as part of the Porsche 70TH Anniversary Auction 2018 late this October, notably cheaper than a new or used Porsche, but considerably more expensive than most every writing desk available.
