Quiet Motion: An Installation by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec

Designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec created a carousel-like installation of rotating platforms in a monastery in Milan. Quiet Motion, presented during this year’s Salone del Mobile as part of a partnership with electric car brand BMW i, consists of four round platforms that slowly rotate around in a silent, mesmerizing fashion. Following the presentation, Juriaan Booij shot a film of the installation in action.

Watch it here:

Much like a miniature carousel, the covered spinning platforms have strips of blue fabric hanging from the edges that gently flutter about as it rotates. Each platform invites visitors to climb inside to relax and contemplate.
