Calculated curves and radial lines highlight Wave, floating desks with shelf and bookend add-ons to customize your work or study nook. Fantin tapped designers Alessandro Ruga and Carlotta Perissinotto of ruga.perissinotto to create the series, clinging to the brand’s predilection for functional products and clean shapes. By choosing to make bent sheet metal the star element rather than simply part of each product, Wave maintains the brand’s functional design appeal and its approach to production. The sheet metal is not only aesthetically appealing; it’s intrinsic to the designs’ smooth joints and overall appeal.
“On one side, is our talent for designing two-dimensional shapes and lines that unfold on planes to form volumes. On the other, is Fantin’s total mastery of the technology behind bending, which is the metal processing stage from which everything subsequently stems,” explains ruga.perissinotto.
The Wave floating desk is aptly named, smoothly curving over itself to seamlessly merge with the structural and functional shelf (or drawer) located below. Whether you’re right- or left-handed may determine which side you prefer it to be located on for the sake of convenience. Waiting in the wings to complement the Wave desk are architectural bookends to break up or highlight your collection and magnetic wall shelves to organize necessities or decor.
The entire collection can be produced in Fantin’s 35-color palette of non-toxic powder coatings, including the 11 new colors introduced in 2024. The system used features an innovative internal recycling system that enables the process to reduce material consumption. Measures such as this display the brand’s connection between our well-being and the environment. Further approaches include using 100% recyclable materials, including the metal, and employing a short supply chain.
