Located in LA, this beauty by Assembledge takes into consideration the great SoCAL weather with a series of areas that transpire the outside inside the house. The glass walled living room is the center for the interaction with the outside view.
Cedar siding keeps a warm fell while colored MDO panels bring a touch of personality.
Using full length glass doors at the rear of the house creates a sense of openness blurring the line between spaces.

Oh how special, my DREAM house

I agree completely with Michelle. I would kill to live there. Gob Smacked.

Very cool house. I love it. But too bad it doesn’t fit into the space or neighborhood. Therefore I think it is bad design. A house ‘designed on paper’ rather than for the space.

I love the simplicity of the design along with such an open layout.

I could not agree more with jadsf. Beautiful concept for a one acre lot isolated and surrounded by trees. The house looks completely out of place in this neighborhood. Personally I do not like it that the neighbors will be able to see everything I am doing. This is the Detroit Auto Show Concept Car version of a house.

Pretty awesome, except the only thing that irks me is the privacy factor, kinda weird where everyone can see in…..other than that it is also my DREAM House C:

This is one of the great things about Los Angeles. There are very few areas of the city with that “cookie-cutter” tract-home style, and there are many neighborhoods with vastly different houses sitting right next to one another. I for one love the eclectic style of LA neighborhoods, and this house is amazing.

Yup, my dream house too.

The living room looks good – big and spacious

I don’t think they picked an ideal location for the design of the house… the architecture of this home is remarkably beautiful and also smart..I would recommend this design for a more private location that way the owners of the house can experience the awesome glass windows 24/7

Quite a work of art. “hey, look what I bought. Isn’t it fabulous!”.
People simply don’t react well to being that exposed, even when surrounded by trees. Maybe with time and practice someone can learn to appear to cope with living in this unnatural space, but it’s human nature to seek shelter that actually shelters.
Interesting elements in this design, to be sure.

Some sheer curtains and I’d move right in. Cleaning windows would be a pain though.

yeh let everyone see into your house

very nice, but what about earthquakes?? seems dangerous!

this house is nice. if you want to fit in you would not live in this house until the design was replicated ad finitum. cookie cutter suburban house design is nice when it is placed in a diverse context…mass replication is boring

i live in this neighborhood, and this house does not fit in it’s environment at all. while i am a fan of modernist architecture, the trend of these types of homes seems to go against the original purpose of the design as well as touches upon the reason for the original downfall of modernism: this house is more of a display case for the owner’s taste and money then any sort of statement for a way of living.

The contemporary open design of this residence is just a spectacular! Although I would agree with the above comments. It would be even more spectacular if it was built on a more private property or in the Hollywood hills, looking toward L.A.

Love it. However, what about privacy? “Hi Neighboors! here I am in my livingroom! Oh criminals, here’s my computer on my livingroom sofa!”

cold, sterile. example of art for art’s sake. whoops, i fell down those deck steps, hey, do you have drapes so we can get it on without the neighbors filming us? does your fireplace really work or is that a lcd. geesh, i keep stubbing my toe on these sharp corners. let’s make lemonade and sit on plastic chairs on the porch ledge, what fun…
nice house, let’s go to my place, I am more comfortable there.
sad manifestation of the human spirit. dumbass designer spending stupid rich peoples money.

Awesome architectural design, and I mean this on several levels, as the design has some truly unique attributes I really admire ;)
