Designer Sebastian Bergne was asked to design a soap dish back in 2004 for German brand Authentics and after much thought decided to redesign the soap instead. Ring Soap does away with the need to have a soap dish and instead hangs on a peg, essentially keeping the soap dry along with becoming a design element in your kitchen or bathroom.
After Authentics was sold in the late ’90s, the soap stopped being produced. Over time, Bergne decided to bring it back in a new version under his own brand using high-quality materials and fine soaps, all of which are made in England. The ring of glycerine soap hangs on a solid aluminum peg, which is wall-mounted with a moisture resistant adhesive pad from 3M. The best part – by hanging it, the soap remains dry instead of turning into a gooey mess sitting in a wet soap dish!
The soap now comes in two versions – Emerald and Amber – with more being planned.
The standard pack comes with two 80g rings of soap and one peg. You can also just buy the soaps or just the pegs.

I like the idea and it looks cool, but would have been a cool post to see how the soap holds up in the shower over time – i.e.. does it hold its shape and stay on the ring or kind of melt off lopsided? Good design works best when it works through the full lifecycle of its use. Just thinking out loud.

Good Design.Does it hold up to the end of the cycle?

Ok. I understand the concept, but have a question/thought that I’m wondering about. After washing your hands with this soap & placing it on a peg on the wall or even a peg in the sink, wouldn’t it drip residue down the wall or onto the sides of the sink? In a shower, I can understand a little better, but still seems as if it would “leave a trail”.
