Sculptural, Geometric Lighting by Child Studio

In the Shadow of a Man is a collection of lighting featuring glass globes atop sloped, geometric bases that give the appearance of movement. Designed by Child Studio, the sculptural lights give the illusion that the glowing sphere is rolling down from the top of the slanted plinths and were stopped mid-action to create a sense of tension or suspense.

The colorful surfaces of the Olive Ash bases reflect light in various stages depending on where the viewer is standing and changes as they move around it. Each light encourages one to stop and take a moment to reflect on their own perception of time within the physical space.

Child Studio named the collection after a quote from Italian surrealist painter Giorgio De Chirico that goes, “There is much more mystery in the shadow of a man walking on a sunny day, than in all religions in the world.”
