Designed by Jochen Lavéno Mangelsdorff for his collection “1 Ljus,” Spegla is a modern candle holder made from chrome-based mirror glass that seems to perform magic before your very eyes.
Because the mirror glass is not completely opaque, the candle behind it doesn’t appear if it’s unlit. Instead, the candleholder acts as a mirror. However, when the candle is lit, part of the mirror effect disappears and the light appears in the middle. The flame of the candle casts an illumination that enhances the mirror’s round shape. At the same time, the flame casts light to the sides of the candle which beautifully fades out. The stand that holds the mirror glass and candle is made of solid crystal glass by Målerås glassworks in Småland.
