Studio Bipolar Designs an Office in New Delhi That Gives Nod to DNA

Studio Bipolar was tasked with creating an office for a bio-tech company in New Delhi, India, that was inclusive for the entire staff, from sales to scientists. The client’s business is DNA which became the starting point of the design concept, appropriately named Brick Helix.

They began by breaking the interior up into zones, which includes lab rooms, executive areas, open workspaces, brainstorming areas, meeting rooms, and a cafeteria. From there, they inserted color and personality that results in a cheerful yet organic feel.

Bricks were chosen as they’re a basic material in construction, reflecting back to building blocks of life, aka DNA. Columns were clad with rotating bricks that resemble a helical strand of DNA and outfitted with yellow boxes to hold company collateral.

In the main space, a curvy metal track is suspended above to hold sliding whiteboards for brainstorming sessions.

Bricks were also used in the conference room so they resembled waves of DNA strands.
