Due to the current pandemic, much of the world has been forced to work from home in hopes of preventing the spread of the COVID-19 virus. To aid in that work transition, Danish startup Stykka designed a temporary cardboard workstation they hope will keep you the f*** home. Made from FSC certified recycled cardboard, the StayTheF***Home Desk is a flat-pack design making it easy to ship, it’s affordable ($85), and most importantly, it’s recyclable when you’re done with it.
When Denmark ordered people to stay home, Stykka got creative knowing many people had to share workspaces at home with their families or had to use the dining table. They challenged themselves to use only cardboard, zip ties, and a laser cutter, and in less than 24 hours, they not only had a prototype but they were ready to ship the desks out. Once received, the desk takes less than 10 minutes to assemble.
The desk is available in Brown or White and in three different heights, including two standing desk heights.
Currently the #StayTheF***Home Desk is available to order and ship flat-packed to the United Kingdom, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Belgium, France, Italy, Austria, Finland, Spain, and the Netherlands. For the rest of the world, they’re offering their production files as open source for free here so anyone with access to a laser cutter and cardboard can make their own!
