Supernova: A Galactic Light Fixture

The luminous structure of a supernova is the direct result of tremendous energy, the visual display the destruction of an exploding star. The suspended light version – also named Supernova – hovers weightlessly as it captures some of that same magic and drama weightlessly.

As you can image, design studio Ilanel had to come up with several of their own solutions to create Supernova. The joints are 3D printed and can combine multiple materials. The Spiral sequence allows for the perfect distribution of 360-degrees of light with minimal glare. And developing their own parametric modeling enables the fixture to be made in any shape or size to suit a space. Currently Ilanel offers the Supernova light fixture in a ring and a linear version.
