Katie Treggiden is covering the London Design Festival for Design Milk. Katie writes confessions of a design geek, winner of mydeco’s “Best Interior Design Blog in Great Britain” and has just released her first book Interviews, a collection of 18 interviews with designers.
The Textile Field by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec in collaboration with Kvadrat, is an installation in the Victoria & Albert Museum intended to provide a space to “lounge” while contemplating the surrounding Raphael Cartoons Gallery in a more relaxed setting. The textile installation is 30 meters long and 8 meters wide, which takes up over 240sqm of the floor of the famous gallery floor.
People seem divided into those who haven’t seen it yet and are dismissing it as “a bit of carpet” and those who have seen it and are thoroughly impressed. As I overheard one person say “I’ve never seen this many people in here before,” which says it all really.
From cartwheels to cuddles, people seem to be enjoying it.
