The Borris Collection Captures the Moment Movement Halts

Mimi Shodeinde of Miminat Designs is challenging conventional ideas of movement with the release of The Borris Collection. In it, the British-Nigerian artist and designer attempts to visually capture the exact moment when motion ceases and stillness takes over. This sweet spot is the singular event The Borris Collection seeks to distill.

“This collection is about capturing the essence of movement when it ceases. We’re exploring the beauty found in the pause, in those solid, ridged structures that emerge when movement reaches its culmination,” Shodeinde shares of her work.

The ten pieces comprising The Borris Collection showcase this beauty through captivating angles and brutalist lines around every turn. The modular designs within the series can be rearranged repeatedly to complement one another again and again. Meanwhile, a material palette of aluminum, nero marquina marble, and ash wood add refinement to the sculptural pieces, uniting artistic aesthetic with architectural discipline.
