The Fikra Tables Are Made Using Recycled Rubber Crumbs

Working with an unconventional material, KALO design studio founder, Ammar Kalo, designed a collection of four occasional tables for Fikra. The Fikra Tables begin with solid white oak wood cerused with pink paint and finished with an organic perimeter of black recycled rubber crumbs.

Each oversized tabletop, which hovers above contrasting narrow legs, looks as if the top was sliced off to give it a smooth finish. A cross section of the tops of the legs is visible from above wedged into the wood and its rubber edge.

The four tables were commissioned by Fikra, a design studio, co-working space, cafe, gallery, and design library all rolled into one.
