Aimée Wilder is one of my favorite wallpaper designers ever; her playful, modern patterns speak to my robot-loving soul! In addition to her own wallpaper and textile design work, Aimée has also worked as an in-house designer for several firms including Dwell and Martha Stewart Living. When I saw photos of her adorable dog Bella come through my Twitter stream, I had to find out more about this little pooch. So, without further adieu, let’s meet Miss Bella!
Name? Bella-Fiore
Nicknames? Bellie-boo-bear, Stinkerella, Miss Bella
Age? 11
Breed? Italian Greyhound
What?s ?The Scoop?? Bella was found at a Petland in Boulder, CO in 2001. I was taking care of my roommate’s white lab rats while she went away a few times over the course of a couple months on vacation. She gave me money to buy them these special treats each week at the local pet store, and the first time I went I saw this little girl holding Bella as a puppy. It was totally love at first sight and each week thereafter I kept returning to pick up more treats. She looked so unhappy in that tiny cage, but I didn?t think I could get a dog, so would just stare at her and then leave. Finally one day, maybe four weeks later, I asked to take her out of the cage and see what she was like, and she was so cute and tiny. That night I stayed up all night with my boyfriend at the time deciding whether I should go get her the next day.
Favorite Toy? Anything furry that she can destroy and pull all the fur out of: sheepskin, fur coat linings, ugg boots, etc.
Favorite Food? Salmon, avocado, apple, chicken, rice, basically anything other than dog food unless it’s duck wrapped dried sweet potato treats!
Favorite place to sleep? On top of a pile of pillows!
Pet Peeves? Wind… It throws off her radar. Bella is blind, so she relies quite a bit on her big ears that she holds up as if she were a deer. When we go on walks on windy days she gets very disoriented and upset.
Best Trick? Walking on her forearms under objects or crawling to you while laying down on command.
Gear? Aimée Wilder, of course!
If your dog were another animal what animal would that be? A Bambi/baby deer! But sometimes I tell small children she is a kangaroo when they ask what kind of dog she is. A little kid told me she looked like one once and it stuck.
Bella is a total cutie. Any plans for some Bella-inspired wallpaper? Yes, that’s totally in the works!
