The Scoop: Kelly Beall and Piper

Design Crush has been Kelly Beall’s love letter to the design community since 2007. She’s a graphic designer and creative consultant by trade who doesn?t make or sell anything other than perception, but she’s passionate about supporting those who do. Giving them a voice and spreading their names and talents far and wide is what she does best!

I first met Kelly at Alt Summit a few years ago, where her sassy sense of humor had me giggling the whole conference. She’s also one of my favorite people to follow on Twitter and Instagram, where she regularly posts photos of her adorable dog Piper!

What?s ?The Scoop?? After I bought my house I really, really wanted a dog but wouldn’t allow myself to get one until I had a fence put up. Once that happened (a year later) I had a gut feeling a pup would find me and not the other way around. Sure enough, about a month later an acquaintance posted on her blog about a dog she was fostering. Piper. I met her a few days later and she came home with me.

Favorite Toy? Definitely one of her many rope toys. Tug of war is Piper’s favorite hobby.

You regularly foster dogs from local rescues. What does Piper think of her temporary siblings? Has she had a favorite? Just like people, dogs have chemistry (or a lack thereof) with each other. Some she just gravitates towards instantly, others take a few days to come around to, and one was even her arch enemy. Usually most fall into the second group. Piper’s favorite foster sibling was a dachshund named Snoopy we had early this summer, but he went to a great home after a few weeks and is being happily spoiled there.

Two weeks ago I accomplished something in the fostering community referred to as a “foster fail,” I adopted one of my fosters! Meet Bebe. She’s amazing.

Thanks Kelly and Piper (and Bebe)!

Capree has a deep love of Victorian-era “fancy lads”, 19th Century anatomy drawings, and tin robots. She loves big, bold colors and big, bold patterns. Oh, and anything well-designed, especially if it’s something she can sit in.
