The Simple Solid Chair by Thijmen van der Steen

Amsterdam-based designer Thijmen van der Steen sought to create a basic collection of furniture when the idea for a chair came up. The Solid Chair design resembles building blocks where the components are stacked to create a solid form. For the chair, only the necessary pieces work together to form a strong shape that also makes for a comfortable chair to lounge in. Two solid ash beams are placed horizontally to hold the angled seat and back planks in place, while four simple legs and vibrant Kvadrat fabric-covered cushions round out the chair’s simple design.
