Kelly Wearstler launches a 2021 collection – Transcendence – full of furniture, décor and lighting that explore materiality and challenge scale in every piece. It’s a celebration of the unexpected that captures the energy of Southern California through elegance and whimsy.
I look to find the tension in each piece, balancing the familiar with the unexpected to create something that is both inviting and provides a new perspective.
– Kelly Wearstler
Staying true to her belief in the importance of honoring history, location and architecture, Wearstler partnered with a network of craftspeople and artisans to bring her concepts to life for Transcendence. Many are SoCal-based, giving the ability of close collaborations that push limits, while also guaranteeing each piece includes a touch of California cool.
The Spring 2021 collection includes eight series of furniture, six lighting lines and several décor objects. One highlight is the Oblique series, inspired by a striped wood dining table. Here you’ll find tables varying in shapes and sizes, made of angle cut hardwood that’s been hand-selected and laminated together. Another favorite is the Colina series of furniture, full of modern organic design. Made by local artisans in Los Angeles, it features hand-formed resin, a Walnut interior and a plaster-like exterior finish. If you’re looking for a unique side or cocktail table, the Triad series offers something unique. They have irregular silhouettes covered in brass sheets, bent and welded to cover marble forms with a hand-waxed patina. All-in-all, Transcendence is a further extension of Wearstler’s multi-layered approach to design that we’ve all come to love.
