Unbalance by Alessandro Zambelli

Asymmetry, alchemy, and science are the themes of Alessandro Zambelli‘s latest limited edition object devised for PadiglioneItalia. Named Unbalance, it is not just a candleholder, but much more. Drawing from Calder’s kinetic sculptures, Unbalance is nothing as it seems. Heavy burnished iron is balanced by light, delicate glass. It gives nod to American artists’ mobiles and focuses on creating a set of three simple lines that join together to form the perfect mechanism. The minimal piece was on display during London Design Festival as part of the Twisting Tradition exhibit.
