Vivian the Dog Moves to Brooklyn is a new children’s book from artist Mitch Boyer that chronicles Vivian’s adventures moving from Albuquerque, New Mexico to Brooklyn, New York. At over 6-feet-tall, this giant wiener dog quickly discovers that the “big city” isn’t quite so big after all. Will she stay with her human in their tiny city apartment or set out on her own to return to the open spaces of the home she left?
Of course, Vivian isn’t actually six feet tall. Utilizing some of the techniques VFX artists use in movies like The Hobbit or Lord of the Rings, Boyer is able to create realistic looking images of himself and Vivian at drastically different sizes. In case you’re curious, here they are in life outside of the book:
Vivian the Dog Moves to Brooklyn aims to help kids (and adults) deal with giant-sized changes. It’s currently in the middle of a crowdfunding campaign, so check out the Kickstarter page to back the project and keep up with production news.
