The driving force behind Swedish brand Tingest is Alexander Lervik, who designs products inspired by Scandinavian heritage, and they just launched the Tingest 2016 Collection, which was inspired by the tulle on a ballerina’s tutu. While at the Royal Opera House seeing the ballet Swan Lake, Lervik was struck by the gauzy tulle of the tutus giving him the idea to work with perforated materials. Part of the collection includes the Bikupa watch, which was six years in the making.
Throughout the lengthy design process, there were many versions but when the idea came for the 2016 collection, Lervik finalized the look. To get the striking face of the watch, he left the raster unfinished making the perforations look random.
The watch features Japanese quartz movement with a Moroccan leather strap that comes in a range of colors. It’s available in bronze, stainless steel, and black plating.
