Way Basics is a new company that uses zBoard and 3M adhesive to create furniture that uses no tools and zero waste. How do you think it will hold up?
[zBoard comes from their] patented, environmentally sound manufacturing process turns post-consumer recycled paper into superbly strong boards that weigh 62% less than particle board. zBoards are just as solid and structurally sound as any engineered wood furniture, yet they’re made from one of the simplest materials ever – paper.

In more humid climates I don’t think it would hold up that well. There was some shelves and such back in the 90’s. It was from the Czech Republic and they tried to sell it here in the states, but it never got off the ground.
It was made from cardboard tubes and there were plastic connectors. But after a year or so in southern humidity it all started to unravel.
Can’t remember the name of it though. Might have been Rolpa, or something similar. But Rolpa is a region in Nepal…

This is so sick. I’ve been waiting for something like this to come out since I was in middle school. I just wonder how strong the adhesive is. Obviously they have done lots of testing but I have ikea stuff that is falling apart and that’s metal and pressboard.

3M tape is just about as good/strong as it gets when it comes to tape. Although these products are meant for indoor use, it is recommended to keep them out of the bathroom or other extremely high humid areas that might duplicate an outdoor environment. These products draw their strength from their vertical construction, and as such, have the ability to hold a lot of weight. I am about 200 lbs and use the Cube as a stool, which is amazing because after all, it is made out of recycled paper.
