Well, it’s supposedly spring, but we’ve had freezing temperatures, grey skies, and even snow — SNOW — here in North Carolina this week. The lack of sun and warmth, though, has been easier to stomach now that I’ve found Weather Puppy. This new (and currently free!) weather app greets you with an adorable puppy face every time you open it, no matter how dismal the forecast.
Weather Puppy (currently for iPhone, but coming soon for Android) presents current-conditions and forecast information with a super-cute puppy backdrop that changes based on the current weather and time of day. And the weather data comes from Weather Underground, so Weather Puppy is cute and totally legit at the same time.
While the basic app (and extensive collection of puppies) is free, Weather Puppy also features additional paid themes that provide you with a plethora of puppies to brighten your day, and you can even customize the app to put your own pup in the background (with a $1.99 download). In addition, Weather Puppy is partnered with an array of animal non-profits and shelters (like Detroit Dog Rescue, DogsTrust, and Animal Haven New York), and you can help support these fine causes by purchasing special puppy background themes.
