I don’t actually have an iPhone, so all my development tools are desktop apps. I’m a web interface developer, so I go straight from pencil and paper to raw HTML/CSS/JS. I occasionally use Photoshop, but I spend most of my time in a text editors like TextMate and InType.
Xuis on 10.15.2009 at 18:47 PM
My favorite Adobe design app would have to be fireworks, I prefer it to Photoshop only because I taught myself one before the other. Although I am attempting fluency at Illustrator, I am unfortunately not as dexterous with it’s transparencies and gradients.
As for 3D fabrication and design, I’d have to go for SolidWorks because of its balance between ease of use and pure flexible power.
Chris on 10.15.2009 at 18:56 PM

I use a few different design apps but Maya is my favorite. With textures there’s endless possibilities for the outcome. Could be realistic, cartoon, even sketchy. Then I’m also a fan of Photoshop but I gotta support Gimp. Free software is great.

the only thing i design regularly is flyers for my campus events, and to be honest, MS Powerpoint suffices to that end. i used to use InDesign a lot, when I worked on the yearbook and school newspaper. i really enjoyed the text layout features :)

WhatTheFont for the iPhone has made typesetting much easier. As a web developer I find it a great tool for matching typography across a variety of platforms and properties.
For the desktop, you can’t beat good ol’ Photoshop. It’s a staple tool of the industry :-D
