Marquetry is a decades-old craft that artisans developed where they assembled pieces of veneer to form a decorative pattern. The craftsmen are few and far between these days, so interior architect and product designer Richard Yasmine created Wonderwood, a project that utilizes the art of marquetry in a modern way.
Using different types woods, that had various textures, colors, and scents, the pieces were assembled into modern patterns creating a solid piece that was turned on a lathe and then sculptured into the desired shape. The results are sculpture pieces of art.
