The 70 square meter (753 square foot) Humaita Apartment, in Porto Alegre (RS) Brazil, was designed by Renata Ramos for a young couple with specific demands. The purpose of the renovation was to open up the apartment creating visual lines between the social spaces, while adding storage throughout.
The open area now serves three functions – living room, dining room, and kitchen. The living room features a black wall which helps disguise the TV and hides the hallway to the bedrooms. Another wall is used as a library to hold the couple’s book collection.
A heavy concrete table in the dining room is paired with six thonet chairs.
The bright, white kitchen has colorful tiles on the floor and matte white tiles on the walls.
The office doubles as a guest bedroom when needed and has a multipurpose cabinet of storage for office supplies and guests’ belongings.
The master bedroom utilizes geometric marquetry along one wall creating a headboard in warm tones.
