You probably know Actual from seeing their UM Pack made out of industrial felt that we’ve featured before. Josh Jakus, the head of Actual, never ceases to amaze us with his ingenuity and with his latest, the Zip Tie, he’s done it again.

I don’t know about you, but a lot of the dudes I know haven’t perfected the art of tying a tie. I don’t blame them. If you don’t have to wear a tie on a daily basis, it’s not a skill you necessarily need to master. Enter the most genius thing ever: a tie that zips and unzips – no tying required! It’s completely idiot-proof.

Made from their trademark 100% Merino wool felt, the tie is available in three sizes (depending on your height) and comes in grey or blue.

This is the most horrific thing i’ve ever seen. (maybe not ever)
but it’s up there
Michele Kiger on 03.03.2013 at 14:24 PM
It’s not as bad as the goldfish tie.

Agreed Rich.
It completely misses the point…
And if you can’t manage to tie a tie yourself, then you have more serious things to worry about!

agreed with everyone!

I quite like it. It’s quirky and different. Perhaps not something to wear everyday but I can appreciate its fun element. I’d certainly wear one and I can tie my own tie.

This is one of the most unusual things I’ve ever seen in my life.

It’s unusual, but I’ve seen more terrible things. I believe the tie looks worse than it is because of the outfit the model is wearing – too many different fabrics (cotton, denim, tweed-felt mixture?)…

Yeahhh…no.

$65? For a zipper and a strip of felt? It’s a unique idea (more for women’s fashion than men’s I think) but I could whip one of those up for about five bucks.

This needs a “flap” to cover the zipper when closed and a “knot” to slide up to make it appear as if it is a “real” tie. Only real plus to this is it would be great for someone with arthritis in their hands that prevents one from doing their own tie.

Love it.
It’s just what Levis want. Simple, utilitarian.
