Erwin Zwiers’ collection, “Leave your shape behind”, consists of a few very different pieces that play on the theme of impression, inspired by the beach.
The first piece is the Claytable:
The beach is one of the fewest places where trails from humans and animals are left behind into the sand, what makes them visible. The Claytable is a translation for leaving trails behind.
The applications of the Claytable are broad. The attractiveness of the surface of clay works for children and adults. All tend to touch the clay and play with it. Because of its big attraction, the clay table could be an ideal product for public spaces.
The second part of his collection are the To become one, table and seats:
The sand stimulates young and old people. Aware or unaware the sand has an attraction to touch and form it and to play with it. The To become one, table and seats has two parts, the sack, which is formless, and the construction of the frame. By reinforcing each other the two parts become one. The sacks defy to form and play, just like the sand on the beach.
The To become one, table and seats are, in addition to sit on it, particularly designed to feel, knead and play with it. This series offers a possibility of a relaxing way to communicate with each other, by the soft deformable bags. The attraction of the soft deformable bags can make you get in touch with them, consciously or unconsciously. It will challenge you to play with it, because the deformable bag can be changed by the user(s). There is an interaction between the product and the user(s), which creates a whole new perspective. They have, in addition to their surprising appearance, also a surprising comfort. The unique filling in the sacks completely adapts to the body, making it ergonomically also justified.
