A few months ago, Italian furniture company Arper reached out to see if we’d like to test drive their latest task chair – Kinesit (designed by Lievore Altherr Molina). I jumped at the chance because I’ve spent years trying to find a work chair that is comfortable after many hours of sitting (hint: they’re really hard to find) and one that looks cool. I have a small space, which means my office chair has to pull double-duty as a dining chair, so the less office-y, the better. That’s why the Kinesit felt like a good option. Say hello to my little friend!
What was even better is that it comes in dozens of fabrics by Kvadrat, Fidivi, and Elmosoft in over 600+ colors, letting you select different fabric for the seat and the back, if you choose. What I also loved was that it’s completely customizable, beyond just color, in seat height, arm rest, and leg options. My chair has a clean, white plastic shell, armrests, and five legs on castors for a minimalist look. To top off the simplistic look, I went with two shades of grey, lighter for the seat back and darker for the seat – perfect neutrals.
Besides the customizable look, Kinesit has a clean silhouette with all functionality, like adjustable lumbar support and a self-balancing bar, hidden discreetly on the bottom of the seat. Meaning, it doesn’t scream office chair. After a couple of days of adjusting, I found the sweet spot of comfort and have settled into work days with less sitting-all-day dread.
