Derek Mizner of Mizner Design is an architect, furniture designer and fabricator who works with repurposed materials to create some new, exciting pieces.

This patio chair is fabricated from re-purposed, powder-coated 1″ rebar making the frame and a comfortable seat from local cypress. Great for exterior applications and the rebar available in any color.

These shelves (left) utilize rusted 1″ rebar and 1″ square tube making the frame and 1 x 12 boards of routed red oak horizontal units. Also availableas powder-coated with acrylic or glass horizontal units. The study desk (right) is fabricated from 3/4″ rebar and x-braced with square tube.

This hallway table is a prototype unit standing 36″ tall, 10″ x 30″ with bent legs and a 1″ thick acrylic top.

These fun coat racks are available in a wide palette of powder-coated colors. Using repurposed materials, (3/4″ rebar and 18″ diameter plow-shear discs) they stand 54″ tall.

Mizner’s coffee table is 3′ x 3′ x 12″, powder-coated with a 1″ thick acrylic horizontal unit.

These bookshelves, coatracks and the coffee table all look great. I really dig the vibrant powder coating on the industrial rebar. In the furniture world though, chair making is a whole new ballgame, this one looks uncomfortable and stiff despite it’s curves.
