Outdoor Lounge Chairs Made From Recovered Sails

DVELAS is a Spain-based initiative that finds new uses for old and deteriorated sails from sailboats, who we’ve featured previously. They not only share the knowledge they’ve acquired about the sail material itself and make the material available to third parties, they design and manufacture limited edition pieces of furniture, like the Barlovento & Sotavento Chair. We especially love this chair because of its inspiration.

The frame might look like your average frame until you see the sketches above that show the inspiration behind it!

The chair is made from an aluminum frame that’s wrapped with sail fabric. The frame of the chair allows it to work two ways – as a lounger chair or an easy chair, depending on which way it’s placed on the floor.
