Paint Stacks by Leah Rosenberg

Using delicious cake as inspiration, Leah Rosenberg forms layer upon colorful layer of teetering stacks of paint in her Paint Stacks series.

Each layer is made by pouring acrylic paint onto trays, and then peeling after drying. Stacking the layers transforms the thin sheets into sculptures. Each sheet representing time, memories, and emotions that “literally pile up.”  The results are are rainbow-colored, cake-like explorations of time.

From the artist:

Each layer of color is informed by both personal and everyday experience. The final piece mixes the internal and intimate with the world of received images and external encounters.
