Lovely idea, but most extension cables specifically state you must not use them coiled, for the same reason as you must fully extend a retractable vacuum cleaner power cable: it is unsafe
Nice but very unsafe, as Tom said. The induced current of a tightly coiled cable will set up a magnetic field that can heat up the cables and, well, burn down the wall.
It’s a brilliant idea!! Looking at the plugs in the picture, it was not photographed in the UK.
Taking all the safety comments into account, I have to say that in Germany this sort of coiled cable idea would take quickly and there don’t seem to occur more electric fires than in the UK and one will also find electric plugs in the bathrooms over there.
I had also no idea (and thank you for this) that my hoover’s coiled cable had to be out….to avoid overheating… but then… I may never have hoovered long enough.
And perhaps one is supposed to fully unwind this cable before use. The vacuum cable is wound up for storage; it seems probably that this one does the same.

This is freaking wonderful…

Maybe the cable is insulated sufficiently to avoid the field from forming. There’s no specs listed, very possible.
