Rancho Mirage Home by Christopher Kennedy

I don’t know about you but living in or around Palm Springs is one of those things I dream about. And this is the house I imagine I might live in.
Christopher Kennedy recently completed the interior design of a home in Rancho Mirage, a little southeast of Palm Springs. With views of Coachella Valley and San Jacinto Mountains, this four-bedroom, five-bathroom home stretches to 6,700-square feet. Remodeled by architect Anders Lasater, Kennedy’s interior design adds bursts of color and a nice mix of contemporary and mid-century modern to a classic-style desert ranch.

Jaime,
I’m glad you like the house, it’s one of my favorites too. I did, however, wish to make a correction to your copy: I was not the original architect but was instead the architect hired by the new owner to remodel the home.
My office was responsible for the design and implementation of the interior and exterior architectural improvements, including the redesigned entry, great room, kitchen, dining, living, master bedroom and bathroom, guest suites, pool cabana, and many of the exterior and interior materials.
Christopher Kennedy was brought in by my client to assist with some of the interior materials, flooring, interior and exterior paint colors, accessories and furnishings. I really enjoyed working with Christopher and know that he’s as proud of the finished product as I am.

Hi Anders,
Thank you very much for your correction. I will edit the text to clear this up.
Rancho Mirage is only nice if you’re rich and can afford these houses. If you venture out of the gated communities, it’s just another Southern California valley filled with cars, dead dessert, and aging 1960′s architecture.
What’s really gorgeous is the hustle and bustle of Thursday night street fair in downtown Palm Springs, and the little coffee shops, and everything set against the mountains. It’s lovely to be rich, but it’s more lovely to appreciate the local people.
