A Rug Made of Felt Scales Inspired by Traditional Patterns

Design studio Producks partnered with hand-woven carpet manufacturer Jaipur Rugs on a rug that blends tradition with modern ideas. From far off, the Scales Rug looks like a traditional oriental carpet design, just like what inspired it, but upon closer inspection, you notice that it’s actually made up of overlapping natural wool felt scales.

The idea started over two years ago when Producks began to look at new ways to make carpets other than the traditional ways.
