It was a tough decision, but if pinned down to one fabric I would go with Unikko with the light blue background. Marimekko is a fabulous brand and has stood the test of time. I would love for the Matkuri to travel with me on my next voyage.

Unikko in the black, white, and grey has always been a favorite of mine. I love that it’s a floral pattern which traditionally is colorful and effeminate, where as the black and white can go both ways.

I would have to say the classic UNIKKO and PUKETTI will always have a very sacred place in my heart.
Growing up, my mother used Marimekko patterns for everything. Not only did she create a wardrobe of Marimekko jumpers out of Mummolan Marjat, she even used Marimekko to sew 20 Ewok puppets for my Star Wars-themed 3rd birthday party.
My mother passed away 5 years ago very suddenly and the most treasured thing that I have of hers is her collection of vintage Marimekko swatches. I plan to carry on her memory and tradition when I have little ones of my own someday.

I love all of the different types of stripes, especially those in black and white. I am a very classic person, so I love clothing that is either black or black. So having four different types of shirts with the same pattern is great because they look similar but are all unique.

Marimekko fabric was everywhere in our house when I was growing up- from drapes to tablecloths, pillows to duvet covers. I still have a raincoat that I don’t fit into anymore but will not part with it. I may have to re-purpose it….My current favorite pattern is Melooni because it comes in so many great color pathways. And the brighter the better since I love color!
