We’ve featured the work of Yong Joo Kim a couple of times before, and she’s back with an incredible collection entitled Sublime Experiment. She takes your everyday, non-traditional materials and creates pieces that are simply stunning. To be able to turn something like Velcro® and cable ties into works of art is phenomenal.
This latest line is made from Velcro® hook-and-loop fasteners that are hand-cut, hand-assembled, and hand-sewn and turned into earrings, rings, bracelets, necklaces, and brooches. Her idea was to question “our conventional notions of beauty and value.” I love how she thinks outside the box and takes risks and she’s done just that with this collection of supercool jewelry.
Yong Joo Kim is seeking funding through a Kickstarter campaign and with most pledges you’ll receive a piece from the line.
