Teatime Made Anew with Purpur

For her graduation project, Roxanne Flick designed a set of teaware entitled “Purpur” inspired by the beauty of nature and the beauty of art, two separate worlds that often collide together in design. The collection includes a kettle, teacups and sugar/cream bowls made from porcelain, as well as oak saucers and an oak, glass, and granite half-dome table.

Using the form and behavior of the flamingo bird to design the collection, from the way it looks to the way it nests, Flick set out to show how inspiration in nature can be adapted into design. Something that is inherently inanimate can become “alive” through the very object or form that inspired its creation.
