In a time when we are overloaded with digital media, in-your-face self-promotion, and wannabe every things it is so rejuvenating to come across a band like The XX who are where they are today because of the pure strength of their music. No gimmicks, no fancy clothes, no cool hair (well, maybe kinda cool), just straight up talent. As BBC Newsbeat says, “They wouldn’t say boo to a goose, but the timidity all adds to London schoolmates’ melancholic pop allure.” Their debut album XX, is filled with minimal instrumentation and lyrics far beyond their years…they are only 20! The intimacy of the soft and smoky duets make you feel like you’re floating on a cloud in the sky. All you need to do is lay back and let the sweet melody seep into your ears.

This interior reflects the music through its minimal decoration, exposed intimate details, and softness and freeness of form in a structure so sound. You timidly make your way up the alluring staircase, hearing only the tap, tap, tap of your feet. As you reach the top you feel the soft breeze coming through windows and the light filtering in much like the sound of The XX…refreshing at last.
