If you’re looking for new earbuds, consider getting an eco-friendly pair like these from Thinksound.
Made from real wood from renewable sources, the environmental considerations don’t stop at the bud. They also use PVC-free cables, minimal plastics, bleach-free recycled packaging materials. So ditch next time you need headphones, forget those wasteful headphones that come in that oversized plastic package.
I know what you’re thinking — yeah, that’s nice and all but what about the sound? Thinksound headphones were created by an audio engineer and a creative director who worked at a large audio company, so there’s no shortage of crisp, clear tunes. Grab a pair at the Thinksound e-store.

Hi,
Generally I like your blog, however, something in the recent update on the Thinksound headphones hit a nerve with me.
… So ditch those wasteful headphones that come in that oversized plastic package.
Regardless of how eco-friendly the headphones are, in this case it will most likely always be more eco un-friendly to ditch a perfectly good set of eco un-friendly headphones before they have been used to death.
Reduce – You only need one set of headphones.
Reuse – Includes keeping re-using what you already have.
Recycle – A back up plan should the first two options fail.
I know you know this, but it always annoys me to hear that I should waste more to try alleviate my environmental guilt.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for your comment. Perhaps I should have said something slightly different.
We certainly don’t want to promote the idea that people should throw out perfectly useful goods and purchase new ones – that’s wasteful.

I agree with Mike on that however if you send your old pair of headphones to us we will gladly recycle them. We are also working on a trade in program as well.

If you’re looking for other eco-friendly options, I would highly recommend trying Marley headphones. The company was started by Bob Marley’s son Rohan and all products are a blend of wood, recyclable aluminums and plastics.
Mike: I agree with your point but here’s an even better suggestion: replace your old headphones with eco-friendly ones and pass on your old set to someone who can’t afford it.

Hi,
I just wanted to update Aaron’s comment above. Our headphone recycling program is up and running. It’s very simple to use and you can get a great discount on a new pair. They don’t have to be in working order either. For more information, use this link http://www.thinksound.com/recycle.php.
Best,
