From Amsterdam based start-up Alphabeth, the same company who brought you Tweet Rings has launched TypeRings.
TypeRings lets you create your custom designs on the outside and inside of an engraved ring. You can choose typefaces from world-renowned font foundry Underware or upload your own custom design. Results appear directly on screen in 3D so you see it before you buy.

Founder Rik Heijmen explains, “when we got married back in 2000 we had trouble finding an affordable ring with an outside engraved text in a tasteful typeface. There simply wasn’t a way to do it. Ten years later, the idea to create this website was born.”
The rings are available in all common sizes in silver, white gold or yellow gold and are made to order in the Netherlands. Laser-engraved using the latest laser technology, every order is delivered within 10 days.

The design above is my own custom design, featuring a rocker and the words “I LIKE TO ROCK.” If you like this design, you can go to TypeRings.com and purchase it!
And now for the fun part: the giveaway! TypeRings is offering THREE lucky Design Milk readers the chance to win a TypeRing!

i would write the following word:
period.
with a period after it. then i’d put it on my husband’s finger, why? because just like that bad 90′s song, i love him. period.
Mike on 05.16.2011 at 09:27 AM
Lorem Ipsum
because it’s dorky, and gives the owner the chance to lie about its meaning.
lindsay on 05.16.2011 at 09:29 AM
What perfect timing for this post, as my fiance and I are shopping for wedding bands. I think I’d try to see how many lyrics from Leonard Cohen’s “Always” I could fit onto a ring!
Dan Kirby on 05.16.2011 at 09:29 AM

I’ll write,
DO IT NOW.
Lana on 05.16.2011 at 09:49 AM
I would put
Olive Juice
on my ring for my spouse why?
When you mouth olive juice to someone across a room, it looks like you’re saying I love you.
Its our favorite way to say it!
haley on 05.16.2011 at 09:57 AM
“everything you need you already have.”
Jessica V. on 05.16.2011 at 09:58 AM
I would choose an inspirational quote. Something to keep me positive every time I looked down at the ring. Something that would be a little reminder to keep my head up.
Kristina on 05.16.2011 at 10:07 AM
I would like to win one for my mom – with the text: SUPER MOM!
Kimberly on 05.16.2011 at 10:10 AM
Outside: “you’ve got the love” (…i need to see me through. – lyrics from our favorite song.)
Inside: Names & Anniversary
missitaly on 05.16.2011 at 10:11 AM

a line from a john doe song: “i am the shiver down your spine.”
JK on 05.16.2011 at 10:12 AM
Mine would say my favorite quote:
(OUTSIDE) Everybody told me from the moment I could hear that I was absolutely marvelous
(INSIDE) – Orson Wells
gtrcar5 on 05.16.2011 at 10:17 AM
Would go for “There are only two things that are infinite. The universe and human stupidity.” on the outside
And on the inside “And I’m not sure about the universe.”
Carley on 05.16.2011 at 10:25 AM
My favorite quote from my favorite playwright, Beckett:
‘Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.’
James on 05.16.2011 at 10:27 AM
I’m going to go all Tolkien here and say “One ring to rule them all”.
behdad on 05.16.2011 at 10:28 AM
I’d write this on the outside :
“Maybe I’m amazed”
( after Paul McCartney’s song called “maybe I’m amazed” )
and
“Lucky”
on the inside ( the song called “Lucky” by Jason Mraz )
Carley on 05.16.2011 at 10:31 AM
My favorite quote from my favorite playwright, Samuel Beckett:
‘Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.’
daniela on 05.16.2011 at 10:38 AM
“todo llega” – means everything arrives (kind of like everything in its own time)- my grandmother says that when I get anxious about work and not getting opportunities I want. It’s a great way to remind myself to be confident in myself/ work and to keep going.
Raven on 05.16.2011 at 10:39 AM
I would like a ring which says, in a beautiful script font, “The exquisite ecstasy of being.” to remind me of the wonder of each day, and of being in the moment.
Krystine on 05.16.2011 at 10:41 AM

It’s a text message I received from my boyfriend right before we began dating. As a fine art major, he said he wanted to send me an “avant-garde abstract postmodern-surrealism neo-expressionist take on <3" I've loved him since.
DeNacho on 05.16.2011 at 10:43 AM
LM/TM – it’s a code my husband & i use for how much we love eachother
Louise on 05.16.2011 at 10:44 AM
I would put ‘Je bent zo koel’ the dutch for you’re so cool. It’s the first text I ever sent my dutch husband. It’s also the title of our song “you’re so cool” by Hans Zimmerman from the movie True Romance.
redfood on 05.16.2011 at 10:51 AM
Jamie – did TypeRings write the copy for you? “Results appear directly on screen in 3D, made possible thanks to the breakthrough web technology” Really? What break through? Flash?
As for my quote, I don’t know maybe “This is not a ring”
Dawn on 05.16.2011 at 10:53 AM
All those that wander are not lost. Sigh a great remember to me that the path can be twisty.
Ryan on 05.16.2011 at 10:54 AM
My drinking ring.
Neal Davis on 05.16.2011 at 10:54 AM
I’d put “?????” on the exterior, with “AMDG”, the shorthand for “Ad maiorem Dei gloriam”, on the interior.
elizabeth on 05.16.2011 at 10:56 AM
I would put on my ring:
Expect your prayers to be answered in wondrous ways
and then on the inside:
believe.
as a reminder to myself to always keep my faith.
Melissa on 05.16.2011 at 11:05 AM
Hmmm…this is going to take some thoguth but definitely a quote of some sort…
Matt on 05.16.2011 at 11:05 AM
lovge. A loving joke between my wife and I.
E on 05.16.2011 at 11:07 AM
I dwell in possibility.
Mikki on 05.16.2011 at 11:21 AM
I would write the quotation ‘If you’re a bird, I’m a bird’ onto the inside of a ring for my fiance. It has a special significance to us and I’d love to offer him a wonderful personal present.
Hannah on 05.16.2011 at 11:46 AM
I’d write
“Si vales, valeo.” on the outside (it’s “If you are well, I am well” in Latin) and “Together in Roma” on the inside. My husband is going to go on a 6 week long trip to Rome to study Latin this summer, and I have to stay here in Texas until the last 2 weeks. It’d be neat to have something to link us like that.
Kevin on 05.16.2011 at 11:50 AM
What am I going to put on my TypeRing?
I plan on putting “ALL HAIL THE BEEFTICKLE CONCORDIUM” in auto regular type.
The beeftickle concordium is my guild, and I am very proud to be a member.
Tracy Thompson on 05.16.2011 at 11:51 AM
Be kind to the person you will be tomorrow.
Kristel on 05.16.2011 at 12:04 PM
This is soooo awesome. Mine would say “I’m the hero of this story, I don’t need to be saved.” It’s a line from a song and always reminds me to hang in there and be strong whenever things are going not-so-great :)
Diana on 05.16.2011 at 12:12 PM
“Ti voglio bene” – I like the way my significant other always thinks of me when he sees something that reminds him of Italy. And I love him, so this will be the perfect text to remind us of what we mean for each other.
Aaron on 05.16.2011 at 12:27 PM
I need to play with what goes on the outside and inside of the ring, but I would put something like:
The power to change a heart is the power to change the world… The power is on!
I think this will fit…
Carlos M. dos Santos, Sir. on 05.16.2011 at 12:33 PM
I would create a simple asymmetric cipher table and engrave it on the outside, like random numbers or mathematical expressions associated with letters, then on the inside I would write in encoded form my girlfriend’s name and give it to her.
For instance,
Outside: (6/2:A) (8+1:E) (2*3:I) (8+2:K) (2/1:L) (6-5:O) (7-2:R) (4+3:U) (2*2:V) (6+2:Y)
Inside: 9:5:6:10:3::6::2:1:4:9::8:1:7
Only, in more condensed form :)
alireza on 05.16.2011 at 12:34 PM
outside: “This is Love”
Inside: “Fly toward a secret sky”
Tacia on 05.16.2011 at 12:44 PM
I would write the phrase “pale blue dot” to keep me in perspective. These are a great idea!
Sara in Montréal on 05.16.2011 at 12:48 PM
I might have to refine that somehow, but the inseide would read my daughters’ names and the outside something along the line of ‘ce qui compte vraiment’ which translate in ‘what really matters’.
Kelsey on 05.16.2011 at 12:48 PM
I would get “We’ll find eachother… in the dark”.
It’s a lyric from one of my favourite songs and is very romantic. =) <3
Robyn on 05.16.2011 at 12:49 PM
Hmmm.. that’s a difficult decision. Maybe I’d put “Conquer All Things” — I love that saying!
Natty on 05.16.2011 at 12:55 PM
I’d put “billions and billions” (the perspective idea above, as in we are circling one of billions and billions of stars).
Chris Stahl on 05.16.2011 at 12:58 PM
I’d get “We love because he first loved us. ~ 1 John 4:19″ on the outside as shared with my wife, and “Reign in me again!” on the inside from one of my favorite songs.
Charlie on 05.16.2011 at 13:14 PM
“WWZSD?”
For “What Would Ziggy Stardust Do?”
Wing-Yi on 05.16.2011 at 13:23 PM
A Promise Is A Promise…
Jessica on 05.16.2011 at 13:29 PM
I would write on the inside 4.20.2005 and the outside Love Began.
Jason on 05.16.2011 at 13:30 PM
With being effectively bed-ridden, hospital visits, lost jobs, and severe downsizing, this past year and a half has been hard for my wife and I. We are now past these trials, and the future is bright. We are both Christians and devoted to God. Something my youth pastor drilled into me kept me going through this dark time:
“God is good. All the time.”
I would put this simple phrase on my ring, as a reminder to stay devoted to my Faith and to never lose hope, no matter how hard life can be.
Janet on 05.16.2011 at 13:39 PM
I would write. “Still cant get enough of him”. We are going to celebrate our 39th anniversary in a few days.
Monica on 05.16.2011 at 13:41 PM
Outside: “Happy Monkey Certified”
Inside: “I am a Monkey, a happy Monkey!”
Why?: because that is what I am :)
Cameron Dunn on 05.16.2011 at 13:41 PM
“We’re all made of stories”
Caroline on 05.16.2011 at 13:46 PM
I would write, “MTFBWY” with a little Rebel Alliance icon. These rings are great!
Kersten on 05.16.2011 at 14:03 PM
Outside: Sometimes I believe as many as six impossible things before breakfast.
Inside: Just believe.
It would be perfection.
Crystal on 05.16.2011 at 14:06 PM
I would write:
“So lasst mich scheinen bis ich werde” on the outside. To remind me that life will forever change and I will too.
Martha Metzler-Ghofranian on 05.16.2011 at 14:25 PM
i would put:
outside – Martha said Niki Lee, do you want to marry me?
inside – Ballad of Martha & Niki Lee – H.O.T.
For Christmas this past year I had a song written for my wife by one of our favorite artists Hamell On Trail (aka Ed Hamell). The first line is the outside of the ring and the inside is the song name with his name abbreviated.
This ring would be amazing and i would need to order a 2nd one so we could each have one! This is a wonderful idea and i’m soo glad i follow your blog!!
Austin on 05.16.2011 at 14:29 PM
“When I hit the iceberg, the iceberg sinks” probably punctuated by a little vector iceberg, which would be easy to make. It’s lyrics from an electric six song, but it pretty much sums up how I’ve felt since getting into the ‘real’ world – completely unstoppable.
either that, or “Helvetica” in comic sans.
Tim on 05.16.2011 at 14:44 PM
I think I’ll go with “Twist to Open.”
We’re not committed to get these, right?
Angie on 05.16.2011 at 14:47 PM
I would write on the outside “i carry your heart” and on the inside “(i carry it in my heart)” because that’s the line of a poem by e.e. cummings I wrote on the wall of a restaurant the weekend my boyfriend first said he loved me. :)
Becca on 05.16.2011 at 14:54 PM
Oh, lovely. I’d write: “More than words” on the outside, and “A constant reminder” on the inside, and give it to my mom. Both “more than words” and “a constant reminder” are family sayings that were a big part of our lives, and would probably make her cry. But, good tears.
Alicia on 05.16.2011 at 15:03 PM
I would write on the outside:
My life is for itself
and on the inside:
and not for a spectacle
Renee on 05.16.2011 at 15:10 PM
I’d write \sugar, love, and fuzzy things\ just as a little reminder of the simple things in life that always invariably make me happy.
hollin on 05.16.2011 at 15:18 PM
mine would just say “the one ring”, because I find that amusing.
BrieCS on 05.16.2011 at 15:23 PM
I’m torn between “Thoughty” – which is what I normally use to remind myself to think things through, or just a simple “I love you” – to remind me that my husband loves me, and that I should love myself.
Bryce on 05.16.2011 at 15:26 PM
I’d write “Marriage Ain’t A Thang” on the outside of the ring based off of Jermaine Dupri and Jay Z’s “Money ain’t a thang” hit single.
Lynn on 05.16.2011 at 15:43 PM
GERONIMO!
because it’s my husband’s last name. we’ve been married 13 years and i did not take his last name. i know secretly, he would like for me to take it. but he’s a doll and would never push the subject.
JohannaK on 05.16.2011 at 15:44 PM
Inside: LOVE
Outside: My kids names :)
Andrea on 05.16.2011 at 15:44 PM
Each morning my boyfriend and I wake up, we say, “I choose you.” It keeps our relationship at the top of our priority list throughout each day, no matter what else happens.
My ring: “I choose you.”
marlaine on 05.16.2011 at 15:45 PM
i’d put on…’follow your bliss’ and on the inside, ‘little miss bliss’
love them!
these are so nice!!
isabel freire on 05.16.2011 at 15:52 PM
I would write
outsid- the love …
inside -…keep us together
:))))
Nasty on 05.16.2011 at 15:57 PM
I would write: “begiNRing”
because in fact the ring does not have neither a beginning, nor an end, but a ring can be a beginning of something, so it could be the “beginning ring”, and last but not least N&R are my and my fiancé’s initials.
lyndsi on 05.16.2011 at 16:00 PM
i would get “run & tell that, homeboy” mainly for my love of ampersands, and that quote makes me laugh
sorbus on 05.16.2011 at 16:01 PM
“If I could somehow spend another day with you” on the inside and “I’d pluck out the eyes of God” on the outside. Lyrics from a song both I and my girlfriend like.

Pondria con
Unibody 8 it
outside

Michelle Bigelow on 05.16.2011 at 16:17 PM
I would write:
Outside: Learn my past to understand my present.
Inside: Know my past, to see my future.
To remind myself of the pain and suffering I went through for 5 years being in a depression. I struggled on my own and eventually fought my way out to finding a reason to live again. I look back at the hard times and learn to treasure my present and my future that I now have and look forward to. The saying is shortened from:
“To understand my present you must first learn my past. To know my past you’ll see my future.” ~Me
Just cause I’m not sure the whole thing will fit on the ring…
As for the font, I would pick Liza Pro or Fakir Regular.
Rosie on 05.16.2011 at 16:18 PM
I would write on the outside: Where’s my loser in aluminum? :(
And the inside would say: Waiting for his smelly princess :P
julie mack on 05.16.2011 at 16:23 PM
oh man—these are amazing!!
I would get a heart on the outside and “jinx removing” on the inside in reference to me & my husband’s song and history together.
Albert Vidal on 05.16.2011 at 16:26 PM
Outside:Under a sky so blue
Inside:Let’s never forget

“Don’t panic.” in typewriter font to match my son’s tattoo. R.I.P. Douglas Adams
Mónica on 05.16.2011 at 17:46 PM
I would write inside 12.05.2004 and outside “Come what may…”.
Because that was the date that i’ve found my prince :) And “Come what may…” because nothing can stop us. :)
Lisa on 05.16.2011 at 17:52 PM
Outside: “Reality is merely an illusion..”
Inside: “…albeit a very persistent one.”
by Albert Einstein

They each have their merits.

Gotta Run >>>
cha on 05.16.2011 at 18:22 PM
I would write:
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
(from the Lord of the Rings)
April on 05.16.2011 at 18:23 PM
What a cool idea! My 10th wedding anniversary is coming up, so I’d put, in Liza Pro, on the outside: “KBAB June 10, 2001″ and on the inside: “My heart belongs to you.” Or something to that effect. :)
Gary on 05.16.2011 at 18:36 PM
“Amicus usque ad aras” on the outside.
“T.H.U.B.” on the inside. The letters stand for our vow key points.
Had a similar problem with our wedding rings also. Surprised us how hard it was too find somebody to at least engrave it from our scaled artwork.

I’m not sure about the outside/inside configuration, but I’d want mine to say “remember what peace there may be in silence”, from Desiderata.
Shannon Crawford on 05.16.2011 at 19:47 PM
I would want 2 as a set…1 would say “Husband” and inside “& father of 4 boys” and the other would be for me. We don’t have any favorite songs or quotes, we just have life.
Kaitlyn on 05.16.2011 at 20:08 PM
“we could live among the stars”
or
“you are remarkable.”
Beth on 05.16.2011 at 21:08 PM

Kiersten on 05.16.2011 at 21:57 PM
My husband is a chef and one of the first kitchen terms he taught me was “mise en place” – everything in it’s place. It applies to getting a recipe ready but also to managing life!
Tricia on 05.16.2011 at 22:57 PM
I would have to quote one of my favorite songs of the moment:
Outside: “Even on a Cloudy Day…”
Inside: “I’ll keep my eyes fixed on the sun.”
By Cage the Elephant. It really speaks to my current life situation. Someday I’ll get out of this dreary office life and be a painter again…
Nick Klaus on 05.16.2011 at 23:01 PM
This is a cool idea. I’m going to be freaking out over the font selection, but I know the words I’d choose if I won
The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return
Hopefully all of it will fit.
Bryan on 05.16.2011 at 23:05 PM
On the outer side: There will always be good things,
The inner: Don’t forget that.
Lauren on 05.16.2011 at 23:14 PM

favorite line from bookends by simon and garfunkel
Vaidehi on 05.17.2011 at 01:55 AM
My ring would say “This shall also come to pass”. It signifies that terrible things eventually come to an end and at the same time, so do good things. It is a reminder to be balanced in one’s outlook. To be grounded when absolutely fantastic things happen and not to be disheartened when they do not.
Oz on 05.17.2011 at 02:09 AM
“Fair is foul, and foul is fair” on the outside, quoting MacBeth. On the inside “when shall we three meet again?”

I’d use my favorite Walt Whitman line:
That you are here – That life exists
to remind myself everyday that everything will be alright
nicole on 05.17.2011 at 09:50 AM
I’m getting married in August, so I would write “Always and Forever 8-27-11″
Caitlin on 05.17.2011 at 09:59 AM
I would have one of my favorite lines from Shakespeare, said by Rosalind in As You Like It:
“Do you not know I am a woman? When I think, I must speak.”
Andrea on 05.17.2011 at 10:03 AM
Wow a lot of good ones here. I would love to have one made for my only child…my beautiful daughter going off to college. Something like…Go. Use your brains, your common sense, your heart, your faith. And you will succeed.

“Puella ludens”
a play on “homo ludens”, meaning playing man (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homo_Ludens_%28book%29 )
i have taken this as my personal catchphrase, because i believe that play is the thing which is most fundamental to human life…yet is all too easily forgotten. I am still just at the beginning of my life, but even so some mornings I need the reminder that life is meaningless if one does not remember to engage with it like a child does- with fresh, open eyes and a light heart.
P.s., I love this blog because for me, art and design are a great way to take a fresh look at even the most basic things in our lives- thank you!

So many options!! For me, probably “All good things are wild and free”. But I’d probably do it for my husband, and he’d have to pick the saying or he’d never wear it. Silly husbands. ;)

Outside: Hello
Inside: I love you.
Jason on 05.17.2011 at 21:05 PM
Around the outside:”infinite is a never ending loop towards” in Auto Regular font fits perfectly around the ring and can be read endlessly just as the ring is an endless loop.
On the inside, I would put “property of Sandra”.
Because I am.
Jeanette on 05.17.2011 at 21:06 PM
I would probably have “yes” put on the outside. That was the tiny word painted by Yoko Ono on the ceiling of an art gallery, and what intrigued John Lennon enough to want to know more on the night they met. On the inside, “soft”…on the inside, like an Oreo but without all the sugar, right?
Tom on 05.17.2011 at 22:54 PM

I would like the the words PROXIMAL PHALANX (the name of the finger bone the ring is going to encircle)on the ring.
I should also mention that I have a fascination with labling body parts. I have tattooed my left and right arms with LEFT and RIGHT, my collarbone says COLLARBONE and I have a dog tag that says my name, blood type and species (human, in case you were wondering).

I will write: Om mani padme hum (GCT)
Maybe, never in our life, can we meet some one who is special to you, who is similar to you in almost everything, likes, hobbies, thoughts, ideas, emotions…
And I met that one, my dear friend, Capt !
with him, I feel like “just be myself, then I will know for sure what he is thinking, and it is always correct”
we are two friends, we are making a group for our own: GCT
“om mani padme hum” is a typical phrase in Buddism. and it gives people peace. He loves this phrase.. and I always wish, from the bottom of my heart: wish him peace !!!

What I am going to put on my type ring:
“not needing to know where she ends and he begins”
It should wrap all the way around so there is no beginning or end to the phrase, so it can be read from a number of starting/ending points.

I’ve never worn a ring before, but I would if I could be a part of the design.
I can’t stop imagining myself wandering in a moody bar with my favorite wine,
when suddenly the lover of my dreams walks by and in that split second he or she catches that little phrase as I sip of my glass: IN VINO VERITAS
Yeah.. that’d be kinda cool ;)
Brinn Miracle on 05.18.2011 at 16:56 PM
