Those of you who live in NY, NJ and CT will be thrilled to know that MissoniHome Southampton just opened last Summer. The store introduces indoor/outdoor furniture, pillows, poufs, bed linens, throws, towels, rugs and more and is the first MissoniHome exclusively branded store in North America. Owned by Roxane Mosleh and Bobby Ginsberg, the store features an outdoor garden and is open to both tradespeople and retail customers. I got a chance to speak with Roxane about the shop:

Why did you pick this neighborhood and storefront? What makes it a great place for this brand?

We chose Southampton, NY as it is the most central of the Hampton villages. It also has a huge summer following with high-end homeowners and shoppers. Additionally, we found that Southampton has become a destination for the east end home furnishings market. The boutique also features a backyard garden allowing us to feature the MissoniHome outdoor collection. It was a perfect location and a perfect store layout.

What’s your favorite item in the store right now?

Out of all of the textiles, finished goods and furniture we offer in the collection I happen to love the hammock. It’s a “must have” item in the store; colorful, woven, waterproof, elegant, a piece that would be the “wow” in your garden. It’s a fantastic item for Hampton homeowners.

What is this season’s story?

In 2014, we celebrate the past 60 years of Missoni. The new Golden Age Jewel collection features jewel patterned printed and embroidered textiles as a celebration of the time. There are several other new stories in the 2014 collection, but this one is my personal favorite. For me, the textile exudes the word celebration; it’s a time to bring out your jewels, in a sense, and focus on the beauty of these stones. I think its genius. It will arrive in stores April 2014 to launch the Hamptons summer season.

Most of our textiles are inspired by nature and plant life. Another popular collection this season will be the Margherita Pointelle in which Rosita Missoni finds her design inspiration from sunflowers similar to those in Van Gogh’s artwork.

Are you carrying any new products that you’re particularly excited about?

We will have a large assortment of the 2014 collection in the Southampton NY store, opening again full time mid-April 2014. The furniture collection continues to steal my heart with items such as the new Cedar Spool table made from solid cedar. A reminder to me of the Eames shaped stools – yet this is classic Missoni, inspired by and easily recognized as a traditional spool of thread. The use of natural cedar, texture and scale are raw and luxurious at the same time.

What’s been a consistent best seller?

We have had a huge success with the Ormond textile and cushions from the Papavero Patch story in 2013. The bright colored jacquard fabric caught the eye of many buyers, men and women, of all ages. The fabric is offered in black/white, gold, purple, turquoise, pink and orange. This year we are offering the Pasadena textile, which is the same weave as the Ormond but woven with multi-colored threads. We are expecting a huge response to this amazing new fabric.

Any special events/exhibits/pop ups/collaborations coming up?

We are very excited to announce that MissoniHome will be attending The 2014 Hampton Classic Horse Show as a vendor in their boutique garden. It is one of the largest events on Long Island during the summer benefiting Southampton Hospital. The horse show invites international competitors and retailers for a week of shopping, events and competition. Bobby Ginsberg (my partner) and I are very involved in the horse community and are thrilled to be a part of this annual International sporting event.

In another recent collaboration Rosita and MissoniHome teamed up with Ron Robinson from APOTHIA to create a collection of candles in MissoniHome prints that evoke scents from different regions of Italy. The collection, with Italy as its inspiration, authentically represents the brand and its home country.

Do you have anything from the store in your own home?

Yes, the Regista Deck Chairs. They are another “must have” in your backyard for entertaining and lounging. The treated wood frame with woven vinyl sling seat offer a waterproof and inviting seating area in your garden. They are oversized and adjustable. The scale and design are fantastic, beautiful when set around the pool or porch area.

What do you like best about partnering with MissoniHome?

Bobby Ginsberg and I chose to partner with MissoniHome for many reasons. The most obvious is having the opportunity to work with brilliantly designed textiles and products.

Truly, the best part of working with MissoniHome is to work with the family that stands behind this amazing brand. The Missoni family is the engine that makes the brand what it is. For 60 years the world has been captured by their imaginative patterns, textile collections and finished goods. We feel blessed to be a part of their story and to help educate consumers on the mission of their family business.
