Wood you wear a wooden watch?
Italian-born, but LA-based WeWood has a line of wooden watches that have graced such famous wrists as Rhianna, Ke$ha, and APL of the Black Eyed Peas.
WeWood’s approach is about sophisticated sustainability. Their beautiful wooden watches demonstrate that being eco-friendly is no barrier to style or luxury. These natural watches are currently available in two classic designs: Date and Chrono, and in four different types of sustainable wood (Maple, Ebony, Guaiaco and Red Wing Celtis).
The beautifully carved wood not only looks super stylish, it is feather-light and silky-smooth. This organic matter is recyclable, biodegradable and takes less CO2 to produce, than materials traditionally used in watch production, such as stainless-steel, platinum and gold. Each watch is hypo-allergenic, free from toxic chemicals and has a traditional Miyota movement.

For every Wewood watch purchased, a tree is planted. They’ve teamed up with American Forests, a not for profit conservation organization, which is dedicated to restoring eco-systems that have been damaged by natural or human causes.
Grab them outside of the US at UK shop Eco-Age.

WOW… What an awful knock off of the gross Fossil watch that was a knock off of the Vestal Monte Carlo which puts both to shame. For $150 the only thing your putting a dent in is your pocketbook not the environment. Wood does not sustain as a case and bracelet material. Its porous, scratches and because its carved and not molded the tolerances on this watch will make it feel cheap only amplified by its “feather” weight. And who cares if the case and bracelet cost less C02 to produce than traditional materials. Last time I checked stainless-steel, platinum and gold were all recyclable. Not to mention the traditional Miyota movement your using is battery powered and and comprised of not so eco-friendly materials. And you gotta love their “Toms” like plant a tree for every watch sold. If you wanna make an impact on the environment you dont have to spend $150 to plant a tree. If you like wood watches buy Fossils’, its cheaper and if you like the look of this watch then go with the Vestal Monte Carlo. The quality is better and it is a far superior watch.

I agree with you S.Cogo also there was the well known Tissot Wooden Wristwatch that was far more elegant than these.

For all its claims about ethics, it promotes its watches by employing at least one kind of deception: Manufacture Deception (watches born in Florence but MADE IN CHINA). Wewood doesn’t quite tell the whole story about the conditions of production of their watches. We learn from the one sentence “Product Descriiption on, say, the amazon site” that the watches are “Feather-light, smooth and made of 100% natural wood, WeWOOD is the eco-chic way to tell time. Born in Florence, the city of art, beauty and creativity, WeWOOD consolidates the Italian ability to architect unique items and the necessity to care for our environment.” So one is led to believe that that watch has very much to do with Italy (notice that they stress its Italian provenance by mentioning its birth in Florence, and its Italian art and beauty). Would you not then expect a Wewood watch to have been produced in Italy? What I discovered when I received my watch was that it was, like many other products that flood this country, manufactured in CHINA. It has a “MADE IN CHINA” engraved on the rear of the watch. Here again they try deceiving the customer by engraving “Born in Florence” in very large font and “Made in China” in very minute letters.
As a vocal advocate for various environmentally centered businesses, I had recently spoken highly about products such as these Wewood watches in the context of the ethics informing them.

Also, these watches are far from sustainable, or eco-friendly. We Watch uses timber cut from old growth forests, ebony for example. There is no sustainable source of ebony, yet We Wood are using it in their watches, this company is a sham.
