A Visit to VIPP’s NYC Showroom

Vipp has been expanding their brand over the past few years beyond their iconic trash cans to everything from tableware to housing. It only seems fitting that they’ve opened their first store outside of Europe—in NYC, of course. However, it’s not your average showroom. The brand decided to create an experience for their customers, and therefore the entire showroom has been designed like a private home completely furnished with Vipp products from kitchen to bath.

The 2,000-square-foot space is located in a a four-story building in New York City’s Tribeca neighborhood that was once a sausage factory. Vipp kitchens and bath modules are on display, which are new to the US market. Sofie Christensen Egelund, granddaughter of Vipp’s founder Holger Nielsen, and her husband, Frank Christensen Egelund, worked on the design for the space.

“It’s constructed like a real apartment and hopefully this helps with imagining how it must be like living surrounded by Vipp products” The apartment showcases the kitchen range and smaller accessories for both kitchen and bathroom fused with the couple’s private collection of designer furniture and paintings. ”When you see the product in their natural setting, they come alive”, says Frank Christensen Egelund, Vice President of Vipp Inc.

“The Vipp kitchen concept is developed as a finished tool based on everything we’ve learned about metalwork in over 75 years. Vipp was born out of a need for functional tools in the professional market. Just like my grandfather, Holger Nielsen, who crafted the bin for my grandmother’s hairdressing salon in 1939, we still consider ourselves as ‘tool builders’, explains Sofie.
