Quentin de Coster’s new lamp, called Argand, is inspired by oil lamps from the 18th Century. Made of a pink gold-plated brass base, an LED module, and a borosilicate glass cylinder, this contemporary table lamp revisits the mechanism of wick-lift by replacing it with a glass tube incorporating three LED strips. When the knob turns, a rack reveals or hides the mobile lighting tube. The name ARGAND refers to the Swiss physicist Ami Argand who invented the burner with double airflow and cylindrical wick in 1783.
